50 Cent, who played Power character Kanan, has confirmed a new prequel series that will be set in the 1980s!
50 Cent has confirmed that he is working on a prequel to popular crime drama Power.
The ‘In Da Club’ rapper, who is currently directing Power season 6, made the surprising announcement on Instagram.
The rapper appeared in every season on Power as a character called Kanan, before he was killed by police during a shoot-out in Power season 5.
Taking to Instagram, 50 Cent posted a picture of himself sat on an old police car, alongside the following caption: “My Power spin off is so crazy I’m doing the prequel. Wait till you see this sh*t, TGE influence (The Golden Era) Southside we outside 1988. Boom.”

50 Cent’s Instagram post suggests that his popular character Kanan may make a return to TV screens.
Power creator Courtney Kemp previously confirmed that there will be more than one Power spinoff.
“Heyyyyyyy there #powertv fans..... spinoffs coming atcha... and other series I’m really excited to bring to you.... And no I’m not telling you who survives Season 6!” she wrote on Instagram.
According to Deadline, Courtney Kemp has signed a huge “one-of-a-kind” deal with Lionsgate that will see the Power franchise expand.
The deal reportedly accounts for more than three years, so fans can expect lots more Power on their TV screens in coming years.
Meanwhile, 50 Cent is also in the news after wading his way into Nicki Minaj’s feud with fashion brand Steve Madden.
The New York rapper appears to have sided with Minaj in the feud, which emerged from her earlier disagreement with Cardi B.
