Back in January, a woman accused the 31-year-old 'Undecided' star and several of his friends of raping her at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Paris.
A lawyer for the alleged victim has claimed that Brown “has thumbed his nose at and shown disrespect for the French legal system” after he did not attend the formal meeting concerning the case, the Associated Press reports.
“His failure to appear today is very unfair to my client, but I assure him that my client will not be deterred from seeking justice,” said Gloria Allred, a US lawyer who traveled to Paris to support the victim.
French lawyer Jean-Marc Descoubes, who is also representing the woman, said, “If he does not show up a second time, we will ask the prosecutor to put in place more coercive measures, a warrant to get him to come, because the confrontation requested by our client is key to this case, a sexual abuse case."
Brown’s French lawyer, Raphael Chiche, claims that Brown has informed the French court that he was unable to make the date, and was looking to set a new one.
“Chris Brown does not want to escape his responsibilities,” said Chiche. “He wants to confront her infamous and calumnious accusations.”
Brown has vehemently denied all of the claims made against him. He wrote on Instagram, "I wanna make it perfectly clear....... This is false and a whole lot of cap!"
"For my daughter and my family, this is so disrespectful and is against my character and morals!!!!!"
