Carol Maraj is putting the pressure on her daughter following her marriage to husband Kenneth Petty.
It's only been a week since Nicki Minaj married her boyfriend-of-one-year Kenneth Petty, but someone is already anticipating the pitter patter of mini Minaj feet.
Carol Maraj, mother to the 36-year-old 'MEGATRON' rapstress, spoke about the prospect of grandchildren during a promotional interview for her debut single 'What Makes You'.
“I’m very happy she got married,” she said of Minaj's low-key nuptials, before putting the pressure on her daughter. “Her biological clock is ticking, and it’s about time she got married and gave me some grandchildren." She added, "So I’m very happy.”
Back in September, Minaj announced her shock retirement and claimed she wanted to focus on having her family. "I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE," she wrote.
Soon after Carol's comments surfaced online, fans clapped back and criticised her for pressuring the rapstress to have children. "Well damn. Why are women pressured like this," wrote one.
Another lamented Carol's choice of words, writing, "“Her biological clock is ticking.” That’s not a nice thing to say about her daughter."
"Gurrlll. All up in her daughter's uterus," said another. "Nicki will have babies when she is good and ready." Another said, "Y’all forced her to settle for that man now stop forcing her to have babies, damn."
Both Minaj and Petty are yet to comment on her mother's comments.
