What Is Music Potential?

Are you between age 18 and 25? Not working or studying? Have a passion for the music industry? Capital XTRA's Music Potential is for you!

Funded by the Big Lottery Fund, as part of The Big Music Project, Capital XTRA’s Music Potential gives you the chance to work with the best music industry professionals including our very own XTRA presenters & DJs to develop your skills and self-belief! 

What are the stages of Music Potential?

There are four stages to Capital XTRA’s Music Potential that will help unleash your potential and move closer to a career in the music industry. 

Bootcamp - This is an intensive one day session that gives you a taste of what Music Potential is all about. 

MPX - This is a 10-day course which will help you learn more about your chosen area of the music industry, develop your employability skills and work towards an accreditation. The MPX courses on offer are: Songwriting & Performance, Radio Production, Music Production and Music Business.

MP Networks - After MPX, you’ll be offered work experience placements and opportunities to be mentored by music industry professionals. All of these opportunities are available exclusively to Music Potential! 

Unleashed - Our final showcase, hosted by XTRA presenters with the hottest acts in UK Hip-Hop, Grime & R&B performing alongside our Music Potential talent. If you’re not a performer, you can offer some stage support. 

Throughout the years, Capital XTRA's Music Potential has offered dozens of opportunities outside of these core components including shadowing opportunities, skills workshops with industry professionals, performance slots and lots more!
