Maroon 5's lead singer Adam Levine has seen his new cornrow hairstyle divide opinions on social media.
Celebrities including Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé have been hit by cultural appropriation scandals in recent times and now Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine has been slammed after he revealed a new cornrow hairstyle on his Instagram.
Claiming that Levine's new hairstyle was evidence of cultural appropriation, a number of people took to Twitter to call out the 'Girls Like You' star.
Why does @adamlevine look like that shitty rapper from the trailer park boys? First you do the Half Time show..which was an ultimate low - now this! Cultural appropriation plus you look like a moron. Feel bad for u @BeePrinsloo

Remember that time Katy got slammed for having cornrows in the “This Is How We Do” filmclip and was called racist.... I wonder if @adamlevine will be called the same, or because he’s a male he’s allowed to do it 🤔 pic.twitter.com/MtWQnRv8kx

Adam Levine had initially posted a picture of his new hair and captioned the image 'Corn Hawk' as a nod to the crossover mohawk and cornrow hairstyle he's now sporting.
But whist he was quickly condemned online, fans of the hit-maker were equally swift to leap to his defence and offer an alternative view to those labelling Levine's new style as cultural appropriation.
The new look sparked a fierce debate that will range on for a long time yet and people on both sides shared their honest feelings...
People saying Adam Levine’s hair is racist...it’s freaking hair...it’s not like he is walking around with his face painted black! We should be complaining about how bad it looks on him instead.

Just a quick reminder, there’s no such thing as racist hair. Thanks. #AdamLevine
