Rapper Tech N9ne was forced to confirm he's still alive, after fans confuse him for the late Tech 9.
On Monday night, rapper Tech N9ne took to Twitter to send his condolences to Tech 9's family, after it was reported he had tragically died.
Tech N9ne also took the opportunity to confirm he is still very much alive, after fans flooded him with messages, confusing him for the late battle rapper.
In a short video posted on social media, Tech N9ne stated: "This Tech N9ne is going through customs back in the U.S. coming from Canada, coming from Europe.
"My family’s calling my phone wondering if I’m OK. I’m OK. Condolences go out to battle rapper Tech 9. Philly stand up."
Tech 9, whose real name was Akeen Mickens, was pronounced dead by friend and fellow battle rapper, Buttah From The Block.
Speaking to XXL, Buttah confirmed that "Sadly it's true. We lost a Philadelphia and battle rap legend and pioneer."
He then added: "Unfortunately we haven’t fully figured the cause of death. We are praying that it was natural causes. He had no signs of harm done to his body."
Tech N9ne, 47, whose real name is Aaron Dontez Yates, is the co-founder of independent hip-hop label, Strange Music Inc. He's also featured in tracks like 'Alpha Dog' and 'Am I a Psycho?'.
