Remy Ma has been arrested and is facing misdemeanour assault charges after punching fellow LHHNY co-star Brittney Taylor in the face...
Female hip-hop rapper Remy Ma, who stars in Love & Hip Hop New York, was arrested and charged with assault after turning herself in on Wednesday, following an incident with fellow co-star, Brittney Taylor.
The star turned herself into the New York Police Department and was shortly released on $1,500 bail. Remy has officially been charged with misdemeanour assault for punching Brittney Taylor in the face during a benefit concert last month.
Shortly after the assault, Brittney Taylor took to social media to reveal her black eye that she claimed came from Remy Ma punching her. Underneath the post, she left a caption stating:
"So, here am I on my way to a very important meeting and it’s hard to even focus because of what occurred last night. I didn’t wanna bring it to social media because Its pretty embarrassing and not a good look tbh. I tried my best to cover it up with make up and move on but that still didn’t work. My Question is @remyma why did you really do this?"
According to TMZ, police reports confirm that Taylor suffered a bruised right eye as a result. Taylor's lawyer Sanford Rubenstein released a statement to the Associated Press revealing:
"This arrest demonstrates how serious this matter is, it is real life and not reality TV entertainment".
The lawyer continued:
"The victim Brittney Taylor has confidence in our system of justice and will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities."
Dawn Florio, who is Remy Ma's lawyer, has denied the allegations and is planning to fight the charges. Remy's lawyer states "The complainant (Taylor) is a liar, and my client did not touch her".
Florio also said that although the rapper was at the benefit concert on the night, she was home with her husband and was nursing their infant at the time alleged time the assault occurred. Florio confirmed this by saying that the home has surveillance cameras.
Remy is due back in court on May 24. Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Josh Hanshaft ordered Remy to stay away from Taylor while the case proceeds.
